When did you first start CrossFit?  May 2017

What is your favorite exercise?  Rope climbs

What is your least favorite exercise?  Lunges….but only because they make my knees hurt.

What is your sports / fitness background?  Weight lifting when I was in high school, volley ball, soccer, hiking, mountain biking.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?  Back in October 2015 I got a groupon but never used it. I was too shy to come in. I didn’t have enough confidence in myself and I thought people were going to judge me if I didn’t know how to do the WOD’s. I’m glad I was wrong about that :)

Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done?  I was very nervous and excited and 2 days after i was very sore (lol), but very proud of myself.  :)

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?  When I started gaining weight and feeling tired all the time.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?  I have lost a few pounds.  :) I have more energy, my lower back doesn’t hurt and I have less stress.  :)

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit.  I have more confidence in myself.  :)

Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us?  The first time I was able to climb the rope all the way to the top and tap the bell. It was an amazing feeling because I though it was gonna take me more time to do it. I’m never going to forget that moment.  :)

When have you used CrossFit outside the box?  Every day. Especially when I am at work lifting boxes.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?  I like to go hiking, mountain biking, skydiving, watch movies, go for long drives with no destination so I can discover new places and listening to music.  :)

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?  Get more upper body strength so I can go up and down the peg board.  :)  I Also want to be able to do pull ups with out any assistance.

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?  In-N-Out #2 with animal fries.  :) It’s delicious! lol

Any advice for people just getting started?  Be patient. At first you might not see results, but little by little you’re going to see how much of a difference CrossFit has made on your life and body.  :)  Don’t be shy or scared. Everyone is very friendly and encouraging and will make you feel like you are home.

What is your favorite exercise?  There’s so many, but to narrow it down I’d have to say push press.

What is your least favorite exercise? Any lunge variation.

What is your sports / fitness background?  Weights, Football, Wrestling, Martial Arts, and now CrossFit.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?  A friend referred me to a box when I said traditional weight lifting was getting a bit boring.

Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done?  Very intimidated but excited that’d I’d someday be able to do these sexy-ass movements.

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?  When I no longer had any excitement to walk into a weight room, especially always having to wait on a machine, or even free weights.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?  My kids don’t wear me out, I can keep up with them all day! My clothes fit better and it’s nice to hear compliments, especially from people I don’t get to see very often.

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit.  My kids know that fitness and nutrition are part of our everyday life. I think it’s pretty cool that the box is their playground.

Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us?  Every time I compete and think about all the work I’ve put in to prepare and now it’s time to put it all out there with everyone else that’s waiting for the clock to start.

When have you used CrossFit outside the box?  Whenever I’m not able to make it to the box, I go in my garage, put together a WOD and get busy.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?  I enjoy playing golf, but by no means can I call myself a golfer.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?  I want to get an unassisted bar muscle up and drop 20-30lbs.

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?  Double bacon cheeseburgers, because they’re so damn good!!!

Any advice for people just getting started?  Understand that every single person that does CrossFit also had a first day. Don’t worry about the reps, or the amount of weight you put up. Get the techniques down first and foremost. PRs and bigger weight will come with time.

Hometown: Palm Desert, CA

Occupation: Teacher

When did you first start CrossFit? August 2011

What is your favorite exercise? Power Clean & Jerk

What is your least favorite exercise? Wall Ball

What is your sports / fitness background? I’ve been doing gym workouts since I was 18 years old, sometimes with a trainer. I am also a fan of yoga which I have been doing weekly for abut 15 years. I swam up to a mile, five days/week from 24-28 years old, then I joined a softball league and played until broken bones and soft tissue injuries forced me to quit in 2010. From 2007-2009, I earned my black belt in Shotokan Karate.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I was first exposed to CrossFit through a co-worker so I searched local gyms, found DCF and the rest is history.

Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done? During my Intro to CrossFit classes I watched the WOD’s of the more seasoned members and was really excited to get going on those. I thought I would “kill it”, NOT TRUE. After I completed by first WOD, I was so exhausted and sore, but I FELT GREAT once I caught my breath.

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit? I was tired of my gym workouts, they weren’t very challenging and they were boring. I was gaining inches around the waist and my exercise routines weren’t helping.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? After the soreness of a WOD goes away, I feel AMAZING. I sleep more soundly, I get sick less, I have more energy, especially from morning WODs. I have increased vital lung capacity, and I’ve never been stronger. I can move and lift items from positions most of my friends and family cannot. For example, I was able to squat and lift a 50 lbs. bag of concrete from the ground for my buddy after he hurt his lower back trying to lift it incorrectly. I “box jump” into the bed of my pick-up truck for efficiency of movement, which always brings positive attention from anyone who sees.

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit. My job performance. As a teacher, I have to keep up with ten year olds all day long. As the years went by and I inevitably got older, I lost energy and even willingness to match the students’ energy level. Once I joined DCF, that energy returned. In particular, I recently have started doing the 5:30am WODs religiously. Doing those WODs in the morning really boosts my physical and cognitive performance throughout my day. It is SOOO MUCH BETTER than coffee.

Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us? I’ve never really been social at the box. But a couple of years ago, a chunky, young guy joined. He seemed quiet and shy, much like me. We chatted a little and I felt that we formed a bond over warmups and WODs. This bond was special for me because my shyness kept me from talking a lot with the other guys. Over the years, I’ve watched him transform his body and reach his goals, which was inspirational for me personally. I think about him every day as a source of inspiration in all parts of my life.

When have you used CrossFit outside the box? I teach my students exercises I’ve learned at CrossFit during our PE classes. Also, whenever I’m on vacation, I find the hotel or resort gym and do the “CrossFit Warm up”, which helps keep me active. When camping, I dead lift my pop-up trailer hitch onto the tow ball, which helps save time and frustration.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Cooking and baking are my primary interests/hobbies. I love watching movies from all eras and genres. I also have an affinity for travel and immersing myself in different cultures (especially their cuisine). I try to travel far and wide whenever my funds allow.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year? I LOVE MY BODY right now. I want to maintain my strength, flexibility, and agility. I hope to cheat time from taking too much of that away from me.

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why? French fries with gravy, mozza cheese, and ketchup. My Canadian kin call it Poutine. Also, two whole wheat pancakes with two eggs, over-easy, sandwiched between. Then it’s slathered with real maple syrup.

Any advice for people just getting started? Your first month is going to be painful, but don’t give up. Once your body and mind reach a new “normal”, that is when you start to see amazing results that will change your life forever. WODs are like wild animals, you have to show them respect to survive. If you don’t you’re in a for a world of hurt, and you’ll probably quit. Know your body, and your capabilities. It takes small increases in weight and not huge leaps to get stronger safely.

"Dionne Elvira"

Dionne AOM

Hometown: Winchester, CA

Occupation: Teacher

When did you first start CrossFit? June, 2015

What is your favorite exercise? Toss up between Deadlifts and Thrusters

What is your least favorite exercise? Anything Burpee, Wall Balls are a close second.

What is your sports / fitness background? Cross Country and Track all four years of high school, CSUSB Cross Country team for one season. Ran long distance (between 3 and 13 mile runs for most of my life). A few years ago, I tried finding the lifting routine at the gym but that didn’t last beyond a few months. Aside from that, I’ve been a high school dance teacher for over a decade and am new to teaching Physical Education this year.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? A friend mentioned how amazed she was with the results this sport had on her body. She was always athletic and I held onto the thought of joining a Crossfit gym for a few years. What kept me from joining was the cost, as I am always about a bargain. I now know it is worth every penny and wish I had joined sooner!

Describe your first WOD. I was very excited and eager to begin. The 5pm All Levels class made me nervous, cause they were so intense! I recall thinking there was no way I could do what they were doing, and now I am! The first few weeks were tough, I have never worked my entire body the way Crossfit does – and remember being the sorest I’ve ever been. I felt accomplished by the workouts, welcomed by the environment, and encouraged by the positive gym members – I was instantly hooked.

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit? I was once very overweight, and while being overweight I still went running and taught dance. I knew I needed to first fix the way I was eating and this first step was taken 6 years ago. Once I hit my goal weight, I was ready to focus on my body and I knew that my old cardio routine and dance teaching job wouldn’t help me find the physical strength and shape I desired. I did my research, and selected the best Crossfit gym with the best reviews in the Coachella Valley.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? Tremendous! I have lost a little bit more weight, and I’ve noticed that it’s a great exercise in maintaining weight if you’re not fully focusing on diet. I have muscle tone and definition in places I didn’t know was possible. I can do kipping pull-ups!

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit. It has given me a physical strength I’ve never known and a confidence I’ve never had. I’ve truly never felt this good, inside and out! It’s tough to not bombard my friends and family with this amazing “fountain of youth type thing” I’ve discovered, but I think they get the idea now after seeing my physical changes, and increase in happiness.

Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us? The thing I benefited most from the was my first grocery store tour with DCF. Cheryl was amazing at pulling products off the shelves that were healthy and showing us healthy options available to us. The most fun was the holiday bash event, it was hilarious and extremely fun!

When have you used CrossFit outside the box? I’ve been teaching a modified version of CF to my high school students. I’ve observed a growth in their confidence and focus. What I love about the Crossfit style, is that it teaches the individual athlete about having integrity for themselves – in finding the personal reward in that. These kids have the chance to practice those skills and they will benefit from that tremendously. They have gotten so pumped about this sport, that they are interested in starting a club and possibly going for the 2017 Open Games. All of this is a works in progress…

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Anything creative, and karaoke. I am also passionate about education and have begun my journey towards earning a doctorate in educational leadership at CSUSB.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year? Muscle ups, consecutive handstand push-ups, and to front squat my body weight!!

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why? Chocolate anything, and pizza! Those are my comfort foods. :)

Any advice for people just getting started?

  1. Be patient with yourself, and patient with the process.
  2. Results happen faster when you take care of what you’re eating while you’re exercising. Learn about the food you’re eating.
  3. We all move at different rates, move to your own rhythm and listen to your body!
  4. If you’re sore, it’s working – KEEP GOING!
  5. Yes you can!!

"Hannah Chickering"

Hannah AOM

Hometown: Pennsylvania

Occupation: 11th Grade High School Student

When did you first start CrossFit?
I first started crossfit this past summer and have been doing it for about 3-4 months now.

What is your favorite exercise?
Hmmmm… I’m going to have to go with hang squat cleans or box jumps!

What is your least favorite exercise?
Definitely rope climb … never been a big fan of heights. (haha!)

What is your sports / fitness background?
Volleyball, soccer, track, dance, cheer, and yoga are all activities I have been involved in and love all of them, but I’ve got to admit CrossFit is definitely at the top of the list when it comes to intensity!

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?
I first got exposed to CrossFit by watching the CrossFit games on TV and wondered if there were any boxes near me. Sure enough I found DCF and got started right away!

Describe your first WOD.  Were you scared?  Excited?  How did you feel after you were done?
Terrified….although the coaches and members really do a great job when it comes to welcoming a newbee. Of course it was challenging, but that’s what makes it so great! After completing my first WOD, in all honesty there was no way I was going back, but after getting a call from Cheryl asking me where I was, I decided to try another class. I’ve been addicted ever since!!

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?
Before joining CrossFit I was and still currently am involved in many sports, although I still found myself with way too much free time. During this free time I’d catch myself binge watching Netflix, or going to parties, neither which are very productive. I knew I wanted to get involved in something else that would challenge me more than all of the sports I already took on and thankfully I found it!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?
CrossFit has definitely made me stronger which improve my performance during sports games and practices. Also, I never really payed any attention to what I ate and how it affected me. That’s all changed now. The DCF Paleo Challenge allowed me to gain more knowledge about nutrition. Now instead of chips I’ll pick an apple and feel 100x better during workouts.

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit.
No one forces me to go and workout at CrossFit unlike my required practices after school, although I do it anyways. CrossFit has taught me self discipline in, not only priorities, but nutrition and how important it is to take care of yourself. I’ve been procrastinating less on assignments which is huge considering Junior year is so important. CrossFit has altered my life in the most positive ways!!

When have you used CrossFit outside the box?
I have used CrossFit many times outside of the box, not only applying it to sports, but simply lifting things around the house.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Barrel Racing. I love horses and rodeo! I’ve been competing since I was about 13, learning from my family who is all about horses.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?
I am determined to get strict ring dips!!!!

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?
Blueberry muffins! I am a HUGE pastry lover!

Any advice for people just getting started?
Just give it a try and if at one point you’re feeling discouraged or insecure, just know everyone starts somewhere! It’s a great community and I wouldn’t recommend anything else for someone looking to get in shape or just simply a hobby!

Occupation: US ARMY RESERVES/ Personal Trainer/ Student
When did you first start CrossFit? July 2015
What is your favorite exercise? My favorite exercise is the Squat of course.
What is your least favorite exercise? Snatches!
What is your sports / fitness background?
Basketball has been my number one sport growing up. Started in 4th grade and have been playing it since. I also did Cross Country and Track and Field in high school. Played softball for my US ARMY Unit Team. Also being in the ARMY being physically fit was out of the question. Early morning Physical Training was a must!

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?

At an Hermosa Beach Crossfit competition I went to go support one of my classmates. I saw how challenging and exhausting the workouts looked and I said to myself “I want some of that!”.
Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done?
First WOD…I was dead! But immediately I fell in love with CrossFit. I love being challenged. Proving to myself and others that we can do anything we set our minds to.

When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?

Well after being out of Active duty for about 6 months, I felt like something was missing. I needed something that would challenge me like being a full time soldier use to. So after I saw that CrossFit competition, I immediately knew I had to give it a shot. I did my research on the boxes around the Valley and Desert CrossFit was the best fit. After a couple days of being part of the box I knew that I had made the right choice.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?

My cardio and endurance has improved a lot! #TeamNoCardio

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit.

I’m a lot happier then I was after going back to the Civilian life. The Desert CrossFit community is great! A lot of different personalities that enjoy the suck as much as I do. Haha! I guess I feel like I finally found my home away from home.

Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us?
Every day is a memorable experience at Desert Crossfit. Meeting new people, being cheered on, learning new things from the coaches, doing burpees for being late. Haha! I love it.

When have you used CrossFit outside the box?
On an every day basis. Picking stuff up, squatting down, proper form is important. A lot of us don’t know how to properly move around. That is why 4 out of 5 people have lower back pain. Learning how to use and engage certain muscles can help prevent injuries.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Playing basketball, sports in general. I’m very competitive. So if there’s a winner at the end, I’m there. I live for the bragging rights. (haha) I also enjoy going to shooting ranges once in a while. Indoor or outdoor, doesnt matter.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?
Next year I want to be looking at competing at Regionals. But first, baby steps, I need to do a muscle up!

What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?
Tacos, tacos, TACOS! I can’t help it, I’m Hispanic. Haha!

Any advice for people just getting started?
Don’t be too scared to give it a shot. Don’t let anyone tell you its not possible. Perfection doesn’t happen overnight! Whatever your goals are, be consistent and put some heart into it. Once you see results, you will fall in love, I promise. Impossible isn’t far!

Hometown: Blythe Ca
Occupation: Sales Rep – Nabisco
When did you first start CrossFit?
Started essentials program in November 2014. After 8 weeks in essentials, did my first WOD in January 2015.
What is your favorite exercise?
Favorite?, none! I am starting to appreciate thrusters.
What is your least favorite exercise? Overhead lunges.
What is your sports / fitness background? Growing up I played baseball until I discovered skateboarding. Growing up in Blythe, summers were spent skiing and wake boarding and winters were spent riding motorcycles in the desert. Riding desert has been a big part of my life until last year when the I realized my mind and body were no longer on the same page. Wrecking really started to hurt and the bumps and bruises lasted a lot longer.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?
My little sister turned me on to Crossfit. She has been doing Crossfit for a while and has a level one certificate. I started hitting the gym in early 2014 and was over it. She talked me in to giving a few boxes a try. Glad I listened to her this one time.
Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done?
I was intimidated and nervous. I didn’t have the comfort of the slower pace of essentials. It was game on. I got my ass handed to me, but walking out after that WOD I knew Crossfit is what I needed.
When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?
I was out of shape and wondering around a crowed gym got old quick. I needed guidance and Desert Crossfit was a perfect fit.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?
Something that surprised me is my lower back pain is pretty much gone. Learning to do movements correctly has made such a big difference to my back. Also, my cardio has improved.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit.
Confidence. Knowing I can push myself beyond mental barriers is bitchin!
Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us?
The first time I made it up the rope and hit those bells is something I will never forget. Also the rope burn I received on the way down and the shower afterwards is something that will stick with me for a long time.
When have you used CrossFit outside the box? Picking something up, I hear Cheryl’s voice yelling at me “spread the floor, tall chest”.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Family. Spending time with my son. Taking the Jeep out to Truckhaven, or cruising the desert looking for old cabins and mind shafts.
What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?
Of course I want to get muscle ups, but I know that will be a long time before that happens. I really want to get double under down next.
What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?
Carne Nachos, need I say more?
Any advice for people just getting started?
Don’t be intimidated. Everyone is very supportive. Jump in, you won’t regret it.

Will AOM

Hometown: SAN DIEGO: Encinitas, CA
Occupation: Pharmaceutical Rep
When did you first start CrossFit? Introduced to it years ago, but officially taking part in it a few months ago.
What is your favorite exercise? (The Snatch)….It’s Poetry-in-Motion.
What is your least favorite exercise? Burpee Box Jumps………I curse them.
What is your sports / fitness background? High school wrestling, Triathlons, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Surfing.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Met Cheryl (Owner) many years ago at another gym and was pulled into doing a WOD.
Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done?
I certainly was intimidated. The clanging of the bars, the climbing rope, ring dips…along with the finely-tuned physiques. It made me rethink what I was doing there. After my first WOD though, I was addicted…obsessed on how to make my next WOD better. I limped for a week, totally sore. But strangely I grinned and enjoyed it.
When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit?
I was not getting better in my Jiu-Jitsu and was often getting tapped out for lack of conditioning. I looked in the mirror and didn’t see the athlete I remembered. I was a fatty and needed to make a change.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?
The first day at Desert CrossFit, I adopted a Paleo eating lifestyle and banished all my bad foods I was accustomed to eating. To date I have lost 43lbs and 6 inches off my waist and feel great. I’m always looking to improve everyday.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit?
My diet has changed drastically. I have become more aware of what fuels the body. Before CF I ate anything at anytime to my detriment. Now I have a keen eye on what I’m eating. This has been extremely important in progressing and doing my best in CrossFit.
Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us?
I recently won 1st place in the Paleo Challenge. Cheryl encouraged me to pair a Paleo lifestyle with CrossFit for best results and she was right. I went into the challenge to just lose a few pounds and learn a few Paleo recipes, but came out appreciating the change in my diet along with building camaraderie with others.
When have you used CrossFit outside the box?
The change has prompted others to ask, “What have you been doing”. I let them know it’s CrossFit. My Jiu-Jitsu game has been better than ever. I can take the strength and conditioning efforts of CrossFit to something I enjoy like Jiu-Jitsu and other activities in life.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Jiu-Jitsu is a big part, along with triathlons and cycling. Looking forward to some Spartan races.
What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year? Master my TECHNIQUE! This is challenging for me at times, though has become something I want to work for. Also, get at least 20 muscle-ups for time.
What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why?
I still embrace a Paleo lifestyle so cheat meals I don’t have. Although, I do splurge on some good dates after a hard WOD.
Any advice for people just getting started?
I tend to overthink many new things and can become my own worst enemy. Many people have this same mentality. It can be intimidating stepping out of the norm and into something new, but the first step into CrossFit will be unlike any other. You will have the potential to change the mindset of: DOUBT, NEXT-YEAR, CAN’T, EXCUSE, IT’S HARD, I’M NOT FIT ENOUGH, NO. This mindset will be gone!

When did you first start CrossFit? A few years ago.
What is your favorite exercise? Squats
What is your least favorite exercise? Ring dips
What is your sports / fitness background? High school sports, college softball and volleyball.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? A friend I met at the gym.
Describe your first WOD. Were you scared? Excited? How did you feel after you were done? I remember walking into the CrossFit gym very intimidated. I played sports my whole life but never weight lifted. The first week was learning the basics fundamentals of weight lifting. After my first WOD I was addicted. CrossFit is basically funtional movements done at high intensity. I was sore for about a week! lol
When did you know something had to change before you joined Desert CrossFit? I was getting bored at the gym and I wasn’t seeing any results. I knew than I needed a change.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? Im in the best shape now that I have ever been in. I go out places and get compliments on my athletic built. I’ve toned up and gotten a nice booty from squats. I love my cheat meals but for the most part I make healthier food choices. I’ve noticed the strength that I have built over the short time I have been going to CrossFit.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join Desert CrossFit? I needed a challenge, something that would push me and CrossFit was my fix.
Can you describe your most memorable Desert CrossFit experience for us? At one point I stopped coming to CrossFit. I took some time off and tried to do the gym thing again. Immediately I regreted it. Mo, one of the crossfit coaches reached out to me. Told me I was missed at the box. Thats all it took for me to pick up the phone, call and ask to come back. Best decision I have ever made. Thanks Mo!
When have you used CrossFit outside the box? I live a very active lifestyle so CrossFit has helped a lot with that. It’s a conversation starter with people I meet that enjoy learning more about working out. And my overall strength has improved since CrossFit.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I just got a new puppy dog Nala. I love outdoor activities and going hiking.
What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year? One of my goals is to build more strength. Work on my technique and Rx on more of my workouts.
What are some of your favorite cheat meals and why? During the week I eat pretty healthy. I enjoy going out to eat on weekends and having a few beers. Mexican food is probably my favorite.
Any advice for people just getting started? Stepping into a CrossFit gym for your first time can be intimidating and overwhelming. I was a little nervous. I thought I’d walk into a dark, scary room, full of grunting, sweating meatheads, which, suprisingly, was not at all what I experienced. Instead I walked into a welcoming space with motivational quotes on the walls, members of all shapes and sizes, and friendly coaches who are excited to teach us all about CrossFit Just do it, I promise you will not regret it.
